Hexiwear WiFi and 3G examples released

Almost on this exact day last year the Hexiwear Kickstarter campaign reached the 35.000 funding mark. This triggered a stretch goal — creating WiFi examples for Hexiwear and the docking station, to enable users to stream sensor data directly to the WolkSense cloud without a BLE-enabled smartphone working as a gateway. Admittedly, we stretched the meaning of the word “stretch” in stretch goal. It took us a year to deliver the promised example. But as a consolation prize, we are offering a…

Hexiwear website relaunched, now with community forums

A central hub for all things Hexiwear. After a brief stint at the mikroe.com domain, the Hexiwear website is back on its own address: www.hexiwear.com. The decision to keep it separate from the MikroE website was made to emphasize the unique nature of the project. Hexiwear was developed in partnership with NXP, and made possible through a crowd funding campaign. It’s also open source. As such, we feel it doesn’t belong only to us, but to the entire community whose support made it possible. The…

A bricked Hexiwear

Bricked in the sense of being attached to a brick wall. Thumbs up for this Hexiwear wall mount created by Aleksandar, a Kickstarter backer. The creator of this pronged Hexiwear wall-mount is also behind a similar piece for Flip & click (we knew that those hexagons were foreshadowing a Hexiwear-related project to come). Or maybe it’s just because these days we — at least half a dozen of our staff members – are highly attuned to seeing hexagons everywhere we look. A…
